Utah Expert Witnesses
Utah is known as the “Beehive State” because, like a beehive, Utah is a hardworking and productive state. Agriculturally, a small percentage of the state’s total area is farmable. Utah’s major crops include hay farmed near Ogden, corn near Salt Lake City, barley near Provo, and wheat in Tooele County in the northwestern part of the state. The majority of Utah’s agricultural income comes from sheep, cattle, dairy, and poultry from around Ogden and Salt Lake City. Many people living in Utah work in mining and mining-related industries. Copper, gold, molybdenum, silver, mercury, and magnesium are all mined around Salt Lake City. Uranium is mined in the southeastern part of the state. Utah’s manufacturing includes aerospace research in Ogden, missile production south of Salt Lake City, spacecraft manufacturing in Promontory, computer hardware in Salt Lake City, and software in Orem. Processed foods, machinery, and fabricated metals are all processed in Salt Lake City. Tourism has become an important part of Utah’s economy. Tourists come to Utah to visit its five national parks, seven national monuments, many ski resorts, and the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
