I have 30 years of experience, and specialize in the field of agriculture development with specific knowledge in the areas of smallholder agriculture, irrigation and rice production. I have published on such topics as the text book smallholder agriculture, rice production, irrigation, and agriculture development. Have a major concern with the overall development process for rural poverty alleviations and recently submitted a paper on caloric energy balance that illustrates the potential that we are asking impoverished people to exert up to 5000 calories per day when they only have access to 3000 calories or less.Also, very concerned with the use of cooperatives for funneling assistance to smallholder producers and feel they are too cumbersome a business model and thus cannot obtain the envisioned competitive advantage relative to the competing private traders.
