I have 50 years of experience, and specialize in the field of history of science and technology with specific knowledge in the areas of intellectual property law, marine environments and earth sciences. I have published on such topics as explaining the “two cultures”, early attempts to prove that the earth moves and exploring the ocean. I’ve been a practicing attorney for 20 years, primarily in patent and trademark prosecution, with some experience in both litigation and litigation support. I served recently as a juror in a product liability trial. For 15 years I have taught law to engineering and computer science students, both undergraduate and graduate. At the same time I have continued research, writing, and teaching in the history of science and technology, especially of the marine environment. My first career, as a naval officer during the Korean War, gave me experience of life at sea.
