I have 15 years of experience, and specialize in the field of microbiology with specific knowledge in the areas of deep-sea hydrothermal vents, hydrocarbon seeps and deep biosphere research. I have published on such topics as sulfur-oxidizing bacteria, sulfate-reducing bacteria and methanogenic as well as methane-oxidizing bacteria. Here I would mention my dives into the deep sea onboard of research submersible ALVIN (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution), 2000 meters deep into the Gulf of California, in 1998, 2008 and 2009.
