Expert has founded 3 companies and currently consults with various funding organizations in areas of photonic technology. His primary technical expertise is in photonic systems, including gigabit/second (Gbps) data communications and telecommunications network technology, high-speed fiber data communications modules and numerous fiber-optic devices. Expert has modeled, designed and tested passive and active guide-wave optical devices, couplers, coils, polarizers, transceivers and switches associated with high-bandwidth networks. His expertise includes device fabrication and automation, including the design of fixtures to fabricate complex photonic components and systems. He is conversant with basic electronic system architecture and design, including RF and high-speed signal and component engineering, including: design of fiber optic links for ATM, Fiber Channel, HIPPI, SCI, SONET and Gigabit Ethernet systems. Expert has been an active participant in International Standards bodies, including TIA, ANSI, NCITS and IEEE, including sitting on the organizing committee for the formation of the Fiber Channel Association.
