As a Manager, Planner, or Supervisor you will already appreciate the value of information. Often the large ERP transaction processing systems- SAP for example- do have the built in capability to produce a wide range of reports. But if they don't meet your needs, generating additional reports can be a long process, even if the requirement is simple. IT departments strongly resist the development of ad hoc reports by end users. However, additional information. based on raw transaction data, can be usefully analysed on a spreadsheet. What information systems do you already have? Do you need more and better analysis tools? Information systems are implemented to improve the organization's effectiveness and efficiency. Success in implementation depends on the qualities of the system, the characteristics of the organization, implementation methods, the capabilities of its people, and the timing and quality of the training given.
