Investing in our Water Future: A Focus on California
In 2009, California experienced its third consecutive year of drought exacerbating already poor economic conditions. At the same time, increased regulatory constraints on traditional water sources deepened the water supply shortage. Water will be a critical component to California's economic recovery. However, the current financial condition of the state is hindering its ability to move forward with critical water supply development and management projects. Currently, capital markets are beginning to rebound and the water resources sector continues to be an interesting but largely unproven area for private investment. A faculty of recognized speakers in the world of water supply management and policy, water markets, and water investment will discuss the issues and opportunities associated with addressing the regulatory and financial challenges associated with meeting California's future water supply needs.
