Getting Started as an Expert Witness

Steven Babitsky is a leader in expert witness training. As you may have noticed, this blog regularly references the techniques published in his book on being a "dangerous" expert witness. If you are considering being an expert witness, his interview on getting started is a great first stop.

A big part of being an expert witness is having a good command of a chosen field, but that is not enough. In an interview, Babitsky warns that people who feel they are experts should not underestimate an attorney's ability to find cracks in their arguments. He suggests that an important first step is for people to "think about if they're suited to this kind of work, if they enjoy confrontation." Confrontation is a regular facet of being an expert witness. Of course there are tools to manage confrontation, such as high ethical standards, which are taught by Babitsky's firm SEAK.

Experts who are ready for confrontation and being an expert witness are advised to review Mr. Babitsky's information on expert witness training and to contact the Round Table Group for assistance in case placement.
