Thoracic surgery is a sub-specialty of the surgical sub-specialty known as cardiothoracic surgery. With the exception of diseases involving the heart, thoracic surgery focuses on the surgical treatment of all diseases affecting the thorax, or chest cavity, including diseases of the lung, chest wall, esophagus and diaphragm. Many of our expert witnesses, speakers, and consultants are thoracic surgeons or specialists who are knowledgeable about a number of thoracic surgery procedures, including but not limited to, biopsies, esophagectomies, drainage of pleural effusions, repair of paraesophageal hernias, pericardial window procedures, lung transplants and correcting congenital deformities.
