Advisory Board Discovery Services

Our process is straightforward and designed to get the Advisory Board in place and adding value to the business. The steps we take follow:
  • Engage in a high level discovery process to gain the background necessary to enable us to determine optimum skill mix for your advisory board
  • Agree with CEO on the skill mix and the number of advisors needed
  • Search for and present a slate of candidates for interview and selection
  • Establish arrangements with selected advisory board members, including timing of meetings and compensation
  • Develop a board charter, meeting agenda, content of preparatory materials and observe the first board meeting
  • Check in annually to adjust membership of board required by changing business conditions

How It works

Discovery Process

  • Our discovery process is designed to gather the information necessary to allow us to help create your high performance Advisory Board.
  • Our approach is called an Appreciative Inquiry – Our team will conduct confidential interviews with the CEO and any other key personnel he or she selects, focusing on identifying the things that are working and to understand the reasons for your success. This on site overview will touch topics such as:
    • Company History/Progress
    • Current conditions and Future Plans
    • Current Strategic Objectives
    • Major Business Issues
    • Skills or areas of advice that could help achieve Future Plans

Board Member Identification and Selection

Using the knowledge gained from the discovery process, we search for appropriately credentialed Advisory Board candidates. The goal is to select a group of advisors with proven track records that will complement and strengthen your organization’s strategic thinking and improve your chances of continued success:

  • We create a written profile of the ideal candidates including desired business experience, corporate affiliations, functional roles and industries they have worked in.
  • Utilizing the outlined criteria our skilled researchers then implement a customized global search, conduct the screening, and personally interview qualified prospects to determine their interest level.
  • Several qualified candidates will be presented for the company principal to interview, either in person or via teleconference.
  • Once selections are made we will formalize an agreement and handle all of the concurrent administrative details with each advisor.

Advisory Board Implementation

We assist in the initial stages of formation and administration of the advisory board to assure that the board becomes a productive asset as soon as possible.

  • We develop a board charter so each board member, as well as the company, has a solid frame of reference.
  • We develop, with the company, an agenda for the first meeting and help organize the meeting, including defining the preparatory materials to be sent in advance of the meeting.
  • We will attend the first Advisory Board Meeting in order to insure the correct focus and overall tone for productive meetings.
  • Annually, we check back to determine whether changes to the board composition are required due to changing business goals or performance of individual board members.
